This pack is a BLAST! It's the first time I've offered wines that aren't on the show and a few that are SUPER ALLOCATED - I had to pull some strings to get them! It's $275 of wine and DELIVERY IS INCLUDED! That's a $300 VALUE FOR $250! And IF you double your order and get two packs, I'm throwing in a FREE ROSEWOOD CORKSCREW to say thanks!
1. Lange 2018 Mia Mousseux Brut Rosé Sparkling $70
You remember Lange from our Oregon episode, right? This is their version of Champagne! It's made in the Champagne method, and is super allocated; I had to beg to get a few cases. Obviously, this is your New Years' Eve wine!
"A blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, our 2018 Brut Rosé is dry, complex, and flavorful. It opens with an ebullient bouquet of alpine strawberries, Queen Anne’s cherries, freshly cut red apple, acacia honey, and the merest hint of chalky minerality. On the palate, creaminess at the core sinks beneath a garland of bubbles, cresting to a finish of pink pomelo pith and crushed stone."
2. Casleah Pinot Noir 2019, Sonoma Coast $45
A wine from a fellow somm, this is Casleah's first vintage of her signature wine. Again, limited cases produced! It's got the depth you want from Sonoma Pinot, with the freshness for food pairing. Feels like this is a wine to drink while playing board games with friends from high school in your hometown!
"This Pinot Noir is lush and juicy with notes of ripe black cherry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry. It is floral with notes of purple violets, and spice notes of cinnamon and clove. Its velvety on the palate with a refreshing and mouth watering acidity. This wine pairs perfectly with positivity and random acts of kindness."
3. Marc Bredif 2018 Vouvray $22
This wine is in here simply because I LOVE Chenin Blanc, and I wanted to introduce it to you! It's got the lushness and honeyed stone fruit character you like in Chardonnay, and also a beautiful minerality from it's location in the Loire Valley. Good appetizer wine.
"The 2018 Marc Brédif Vouvray Classic is a picture-perfect Chenin Blanc, with a touch of sweetness. TASTING NOTES: This wine is fresh, bright, and textured. Its pretty and floral aromas and smooth finish should make it an excellent choice with hummus-packed pita bread."
4. J. Wilkes 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon $30
You know J. Wilkes from our Santa Barbara episode. This is Wes's Cabernet from grapes sourced in Paso Robles. It's got all the Cab flavors you love, but is still super lean at 13.9% alcohol. At $30, it's a killer value (as most Paso Cabs are) and great for group dinners when you need a crowd-pleaser.
"Dense flavors of cherry, cassis, blackberry, chocolate, and tobacco leaf, with echoes of toasty oak and cedar."
5. Source and Sink Field Blend $25
This is the wine made by one of my best friends in the industry! He's an ex-Chicago investment banker turned winemaker, because you know, winemaking is more fun. It's a field blend, which means it's taken from a block of vineyards served "as is" as opposed to blended in the cellar. It's a fun wine and great for gifting or drinking!
"Dark and deep purple. Dense but crunchy on the palate. Savory and juicy on the nose.
Blend: 54% Zinfandel, 24% Petite Sirah, 22% Alicante Bouschet"
6. Lechuza Vineyard 2016 Nebbiolo $75
Man, I am excited for you to taste this one! This is a preview of our Mexico episode coming in season 3 from a killer producer in the Valle de Gudalupe. This is a big, bold, lush wine with 40 MONTHS of oak. Let this breathe an hour, and pair it with Christmas dinner!
"Nose: Cigar tobacco, tar and saddle leather with jamaica, anise, gardenia, cracked pepper, vanilla bean and pralines. Taste: Round mouth-feel with prominent tannins and an assertive acid presence, red clay undertones, worn leather essence, tobacco and anise, profound finish."
